When people think of souvenirs from Greenland, items like tupilaks, soapstone art, and traditional ulu knives often come to mind. These are beautiful, unique pieces of craftsmanship, handmade by local artisans over generations. IO Design has chosen a different path to tell stories about Greenland. In collaboration with soSouvenir, a contemporary collection was developed with practical, everyday products for the ever-increasing number of tourists visiting Greenland:
Scarves featuring photographs of the magnificent nature, captured by Greenlandic photographer Aqqalu Augustussen. A project bag inspired by an exhibit from the Greenland National Museum in Nuuk. A soapstone dish inspired by a traditional qulleq. And finally, socks with colorful kayaks and ulus.
