Modern Christmas at Louisiana
Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Denmark
Hand-painted glass baubles
Decoupage hearts
These two series of hand-blown, hand-painted glass baubles draw inspiration from the trees and plants in Louisiana’s Sculpture Park, as well as the graphic lines of the museum’s distinctive architecture.
The individually packaged glass baubles feature magnolia, red oak, fern, and ginkgo tree motifs that wrap stylistically and colourfully around the glass.
The contrasting shadow patterns of the brickwork at the museum café, the sharp perspective of the glass corridor, and the clean lines of the Giacometti Hall form the basis for a three-piece set featuring modern, graphic interpretations painted onto clear glass.
A third series consists of two sizes of Christmas hearts, handmade from plaster in Ukraine using traditional methods, and beautifully decorated in decoupage using pages from past editions of Louisiana catalogues.
